1. WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM CONVICTED OF DUI IN TENNESSEE?
The penalties for a conviction for DUI 1st Offense in the State of Tennessee include the following if the defendant's BAC is less than 0.2:
  • Mandatory 48 hours jail time up to 11 months, 29 days
  • Probation up to 11 months, 29 days
  • Mandatory Fine: $350 up to $2500, plus court costs
  • 24 hours roadside trash pickup while wearing "I am a Drunk Driver" vest
  • 1 year loss of license
  • Required completion of 12 hour Alcohol Safety School
  • Required drug and alcohol assessment
  • Possibly, an ignition interlock device
  • Dramatically increased car insurance cost, if not loss of coverage
